In the Industry Since 1978

Our Story

Founded in 1978 in Richmond, Virginia, Truckin Thunder began when Tom and Judy Brooks purchased a franchise for Masters in Natural Glazing (MING) and opened their first store on Midlothian Turnpike. Their hard work, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial drive quickly earned them a reputation for quality service in the automotive industry.

As their customer base grew, they recognized a need for aftermarket accessories and vehicle customization, and Truckin Thunder was born — a locally owned family business dedicated to helping drivers get more capability, functionality, and pride out of their vehicles.

Growth Through the Years

By the 1990s, Truckin Thunder had evolved into a full-scale automotive accessory and upfitting center. A new location on West Broad Street in Richmond allowed the team to better serve the region’s growing demand.

With their forward-thinking vision, Tom and Judy expanded north to Fredericksburg, opening a 10,000-square-foot warehouse and installation facility to meet both retail and commercial needs.

In 2004, Truckin Thunder acquired Ashland Hitch, further extending its reach across Central Virginia. Today, our Midlothian, Broad Street, Fredericksburg, and Ashland locations proudly serve individuals, contractors, and fleet operators across the state.
